Ceramic Reconstruction (CEREC)

Gone are the days of multiple visits to the dentist to restore teeth.

With CEREC, teeth can be restored in a single sitting. CEREC porcelain restorations are the latest computer based CAD/CAM technology for strong beautiful tooth restorations, made on site, in one visit. There is no need for temporary fillings or crowns or messy impressions.

The most common use for CEREC restorations is the replacement of silver amalgam fillings.

While most fillings weaken teeth, CEREC restorations strengthen remaining tooth structure, so your tooth is as strong as in its original state and looks beautifully natural.

East Melbourne Dental has recently updated to the latest CEREC technology, giving you greater precision and care for your general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry in Melbourne.

How do CEREC restorations work?

Using a special camera, we take a digital picture of the tooth. Your dentist then designs the restoration on the computer screen with a virtual 3D model of the tooth. This allows us to customize the shape and detail to exactly fit your specific clinical needs.

Next, a ceramic block is inserted into our on-site milling unit and automatically machined to exact design specifications in the correct shade to match your tooth.

Minutes later, milling is complete and the restoration is ready to bond to place. After polishing the restoration looks and feels like a natural tooth.

All this has taken place in about an hour and, of course, in one visit.

Why CEREC?
